VMware Engineer
Description Work with a great team and the latest technologies from HPE and VMware. Join an R&D engineering team responsible for our engineering partnership with VMware. As part of this team, you will work with the latest server hardware, and VMware ESXi and vSAN to enable VMware support and technologies and design and deliver solutions to meet our customer's needs. You will explore opportunities for joint collaboration by exploring cutting-edge future technologies and server and operating system features from HPE and VMware. You will work within the team and with VMware, and participate in the full R&D software lifecycle from investigation, requirements, design, development, qualification and release.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop VMware end-user software solutions based on marketing requirements Work closely with HPE and VMware engineering teams to evaluate future server and operating system technologies and features, and investigate, prototype and drive joint collaboration Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities across HPE Provide VMware expertise as a subject matter expert to other business units within HPE Provide innovation and leadership to ensure best in class solutions for our customers Assist with R&D planning, defining requirements, scoping efforts, and setting appropriate milestones Work with software testing/QA organizations to achieve quality requirements Debug product issues Collaborate with cross functional and remote project team members Configure, manage and use server hardware, networking and VMware environments Provide guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members. Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Typically 6-10 years experience. Knowledge and Skills:
Strong software development and debugging experience Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages Understanding of server architecture Experience and solid understanding of VMware's ESXi hypervisor Knowledge and experience with VMware vSAN Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to research and learn new tools and technologies quickly Understanding of storage technologies Network configuration and administration (nice to have) Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate ideas, architectures, and design proposals to senior management. $80K -- $100K
