- Supervise and engage with campers while you assist the guest teaching artist during art lessons.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times during the day as you take students to indoor and outdoor activities.
- Lead planned crafts and art activities that are prepared for you by the museum staff according to the weekly thematic camp.
- Provide guidance and support to campers in resolving conflicts and promoting positive behavior - Collaborate with other camp staff, such as the guest art instructors and volunteers to create a fun and inclusive camp environment.
Skills:
- Experience working with and/or teaching either ages 5-8 or 9-12 - Strong behavior management skills to effectively control a class of 15-20 students - Must be enthusiastic and communicative - First aid and CPR certification preferred but not necessary - Previous Fine Art skills and experience preferred, current college students preferred - Knowledge of childhood development preferred - Preferred Experience working in a summer camp or after school care environment We are seeking enthusiastic camp counselors who are passionate about working with children and who have a background in art.
As a Camp Counselor, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young artists while working with the support of the museum lead teaching artists and volunteer staff.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old - High school diploma or equivalent required; college education in related field preferred - Ability to pass background check and provide references - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team This is a seasonal position based on the camp schedule and weekly themes.
This position will be eight weeks starting June 3rd and will end on August 2nd with no camp during the week of July 4th.
Hours will be Mon-Fri from 9am-4pm.
Compensation for this position is $16/hr.
