iSphere, a leading Houston-based IT consulting company, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator in North Houston for a long-term opportunity. We are looking for a talented individual who can effectively manage and optimize the performance of assigned database systems. Responsibilities:
- Take charge of the day-to-day management and implementation of the database environment, including administration, backup and recovery activities, and change control.
- Process service tickets, troubleshoot system issues, resolve database-related incidents, and complete maintenance requests.
- Configure, test, install, and migrate new instances and databases in multiple environments.
- Monitor and analyze performance, including capacity planning, system checks, and audits. Make recommendations for improvements and fulfill requests for additional resources and support as needed.
- Act as a resource for the audit and security departments when required.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for production support needs.
Required Competencies:
- Solid understanding of database administration, management, and related files and data to production events and outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft database replication technologies, including Availability Groups and Mirroring.
- Strong technology and troubleshooting skills in SQL, Oracle, PowerShell, Azure, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage timelines and prioritize workload in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment, utilizing Agile and DevOps practices.
- Flexibility to occasionally provide after-hours and weekend support to meet business needs.
- General systems architecture and engineering skills.
- Strong attention to detail and concern for data accuracy.
- Ability to quickly comprehend complex technical and logical concepts and master new programs and systems, including but not limited to ServiceNow, Sentry One, and of administration experience with Azure and SQL.
- Experience with Oracle is a plus.
- Preferred experience in the financial services or banking industry.
Formal Education & Certification:
- Associate's degree in technology, business, or a related field preferred.
- Industry-recognized system administration or development certification is a plus.
